Flourishing Families was born out of the belief that every family matters — and every family deserves the chance to flourish.
In Leeds there are 40,000 children whose families are so poor that they cannot afford to keep them fed, warm, clean or clothed. That’s enough to more than fill Elland Road Football Stadium.
These aren’t just statistics. Behind every heartbreaking number is a child and a family in crisis. The devasting impact of poverty steals futures and robs children of opportunity.
This is where we make a difference.
Our vision is to transform futures for children and families living in poverty. We work alongside communities and equip families with the tools to flourish.
And we bring together like-minded people who are determined to make a real and lasting difference.
Our charity began in 2017 with a single Cookery Club. Since then we have grown steadily and now walk alongside over 1,000 people a year. We believe that lasting change happens when we meet people where they are. Our grassroots approach reflects this belief – we always work within communities rather than expecting families to come to us.

Earlier this month we had the privilege of hosting the Chancellor of the Exchequer and Member of Parliament for Leeds West and Pudsey, Rachel Reeves, at a showcase of the work we do to empower families.
“You saved Christmas for us,” Gemima said as we handed over four gift-packed stockings for her kids and three large bags of food.
We were thrilled and honoured to receive this prestigious award as part of HM The King’s Birthday Honours in November last year.
